When determining the size of your eyeglass frame, look inside of your current eyeglass frame inside of the bridge or earpiece. You will see numbers like the example below.

47-19-27-135

The first number 47 is the lens diameter. The second number 19 is the bridge (Nose Width). The third number is 27 is the Lens Height (B measurement). The fourth number 135 is the Temple Length. When ordering a frame there is an acceptable deviation of 2mm in these measurements.

If this is your first pair of eyeglasses it is highly recommended to see your local optician to try on frames to see what frames look best on you and see what sizes fit you best.

Measuring your “PD” (pupil distance) is crutial in the proper fitting of eyeglasses so to ensure your eyes are at the optical center of the lenses. Your PD is simply the center of one pupil to the center of the other pupil measured in millimeters. You can measure your own PD by having someone stand in front of you holding a millimeter ruler and measure from the center of one pupil (black spot) to the center of the other pupil (black spot) in millimeters. Another clever way to do this is to put on an old pair of glasses, use someone elses glasses or sunglassesĀ  and place a dot in the center of each pupil with a non permanent marker. Take off the glasses and measure from dot to dot in millimeters. This is your PD measurement.

Knowing your prescription and your PD measurement makes shopping for eyeglasses onlineĀ  very simple and will save you a lot of money and time.
